Chatham is located in the "lower Cape" section of Cape Cod. It's thought of as the elbow of Cape Cod, based on the shape of the region and the location of the town. Cape Cod is one of our favorite places to visit on the East Coast of the United States, and Chatham is definitely worth the trip. Chatham Lighthouse

We stopped in Chatham Hardware at 624 Main St. to check out the colorful mini-cars in the window. The cars are for 2- to 5-year-olds and the staff puts them together in house. There's a police car and a taxi, but store president Michael Colecchi says the fire engine is the most popular style; all have functioning lights.

Touring the 100+ year-old depot building and the fully restored caboose on site gives a fascinating glimpse of rail travel to Cape Cod in days gone by.
